Ziya Saylan , MD is the creator of S-Lift, Liposhifting, posterior neck lift and designer of the liposuction cannulas named after his name to perform safe and effective liposuction.

After Dr. Saylan received his doctorate in medicine from the University of Ankara, Turkey, he performed his general surgery residency at the General Surgery Clinics, University of Ankara . He went on to complete his surgery residency at University of Göttingen Central Hospital Bremen, Germany. After becoming a general surgeon in 1984 he spend two more years at the Bremen Central Hospital and during this time, he learned Traumatology, Hand and Microsurgery.

Between 1986 and 2005 he had his own cosmetic surgery clinic in Dusseldorf , Germany . Since 2006 he has been practicing in Istanbul , Turkey .

During his general surgery residency, liposuction and Lipofilling were introduced to the aesthetic surgery. These new techniques were invented by his mentors before his very eyes by Dr. Giorgio Fischer and Dr. Pierre Fournier. Dr. Saylan was also trained as a cosmetic surgeon at the Post-Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia , USA .

The S-Lift (Purse String formed plication of the SMAS to the Zygomatic Bone) was developed by Ziya Saylan , MD , and is performed all over the world by a number of doctors who have been personally trained by him. The S-Lift is based on a purse sting formed plication of the SMAS and fixation of the sagging tissue to the zygomatic bone. The S-lift provides an overall lift to the lower region of the face and upper neck, offering significant age-diminishing effects with minimal downtime and lasting results.

Dr. Ziya Saylan is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic surgery (AACS) and he was the president of the European Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (EACS) during 2001-2003 and also the President of the German Liposuction Society (DGL) during 2002-2004
