Liposuction with Saylan MicrocannulasLiposuction is performed to improve the body contour and remove fat from specific areas, such as hips, buttocks, submental, chest and abdomen. The ideal candidate for this procedure is a normal weight person with good skin conditions (firm and elastic skin). The patient must be healthy and have realistic expectations.

The Anesthesia: Various types of anesthesia can be employed for liposuction. We
prefer the tumescent anesthesia combined with iv sedation (Twilight anesthesia) because the pure tumescent anesthesia is painful and the patient can hear and feel the whole procedure. The patient spends a night at our clinic so that during the climax of complications (12 hours following the liposuction) the patient is under medical observation.

Tumescent Liposuction: This is our favorite form of liposuction since the ultrasonic liposuction and power cannula assisted liposuction does not fullfill our expectations. The power and the ultrasound cannulas behave like large caliber cannulas and remain hollow. The Surgery: The surgery takes between 60 and 120 minutes since removal of more than 3500 cc is not optimal. Major complications are possible if large ammounts are aspirated. The liposuction is done through small incisions (3-5 mm) which will not leave any major scars. Afterwards the excess fat is suctioned out using long thin rods called "Cannulas".

After Surgery: Swelling and bruising can last for seven to fourteen days. Most patients are back to work after five to ten days. There is no direct pain. The liposuctioned place will stay tender (pain if pressure applied) for 6-7 days. You have to wear a compression garment for 2 weeks.

Results:There is no perfect liposuction. After every liposuction hollows and dents will remain. This is true for every patient but mainly occurs in older ages due to weakend skin laxity. The following can may happen after a liposuction:
- Loss of sensitivity at the liposuctioned area (The skin will be numb)
- Hollows and dents may occur, which can be corrected by a second liposuction or liposhifting*, Worldwide %12 of the liposuction patients needed a touch up. The reason of the uneven skin condition is the previous injurys which caused a scar tissue under the skin.
